Why Esme Chose an Apprenticeship

Esme’s journey began at university, where she felt disconnected from her studies and unsure how her degree would benefit her in the real world. Everything changed after a three-week work experience placement at Altum HR:

“I learnt more in those three weeks than in an entire year at Uni. Altum got me involved from day one, and I discovered how much I enjoyed HR.”

One of Esme’s biggest surprises? How quickly she gained confidence:

“I didn’t expect to be completing meetings and processes on my own so early into my apprenticeship.”

She’s also proud of her growing knowledge of employment law, a complex area she’s tackled through webinars and seminars.

Challenges and Growth

Balancing apprenticeship assignments with day-to-day work was a challenge at first. Esme learned to stay organised and prioritise effectively:

“If I didn’t stay organised, it could have been very stressful. Now I feel confident managing both.”
