Lola’s Apprenticeship Journey: Creativity, Confidence and Career Growth

When Lola joined Altum HR, marketing was a new world for her. Fast forward a year, and she’s just months away from completing her Level 3 Multi-Channel Marketing Apprenticeship – a journey that’s been full of learning, confidence-building and creative challenges.

From Nervous to Confident

One of Lola’s biggest transformations has been in her communication skills. Speaking with external stakeholders once felt daunting but has now become something she genuinely enjoys:

“I used to find communicating with external stakeholders quite anxiety-inducing, but now I really enjoy it and feel confident doing it.”

Skills She Didn’t See Coming

Presenting confidently in front of groups was something Lola never imagined she’d master. But through her apprenticeship live sessions and collaborative projects, she’s learned to speak up and share ideas – skills that have carried over into team meetings and client interactions.

“It seems obvious, but people often think you either go to university or you do an apprenticeship. You don’t have to choose between them – you can do both. They offer completely different experiences and skill sets, and both are very valuable.”

Her Advice to Future Apprentices

“You can’t lose anything by doing one. You get paid, you get real-world experience, you get a qualification, and you get to learn. It’s a win, win situation.”

And if Lola could put one sentence on a billboard to encourage others to do an apprenticeship, it would be:

“Get paid. Get experience. Get a qualification.”
